My wife and I decided to see the statue of Charity the cow, in the Cathedraltown section of Markham, Ontario… before she moves away. Here is Linda photographing Charity, wearing a wreath symbolizing her winning ways.

On May 16, 2018, Charity moo-ved from Cathedraltown. May she find peace in her new location and bring joy to others. See “Markham cow sculpture…” for more details. (The original post follows unchanged).
The controversy over Charity the cow, in Cathedraltown, Markham
Apparently the local residents don’t support this chrome statue, and want it moved from their neighbourhood. (The Toronto Star is among those who report on the controversy).
Clearly she does not need their support; her hooves are firmly planted on four tall pillars.
She rules Charity Crescent Parkette, which has grass, trees, and a couple of benches so you can sit and gaze up at the bovine beauty.
We visited in early spring; the ground was just thawing, and the grass was damp. So a couple of geese also visited one of the nearby homes, and later came to the park.
Charity herself gazes toward the Cathedral of the Transfiguration, which give the Cathedraltown community its name. I think she’s looking at the rear of the cathedral. Here’s a closer look.
As a visitor, I thought that Charity’s statue uniquely and amusingly brightens this suburb. (I also like the Toronto Chinese archway at Gerrard and Broadview; another example of my taste in public art).
I recommend you see it for yourself, before the neighbours evict her from her own park. That’s why I call this article a “public service announcement”.
